Manuclouds is your window to cloud manufacturing. Manuclouds is a global organisation dedicated to supporting R&D innovation on cloud manufacturing.

What we do

Manuclouds presents the most comprehensive information about R&D activities on cloud manufacturing. We network researchers from industry, academia, and research institutions under this theme.

Tim Dellas

Tim Dellas joined Ascora after finishing his Master’s degree (Dipl.-Inform) in computer sciences at the University of Oldenburg, Germany in 2009, focusing on software development and semantics research. He is the project manager for a number of research projects and is in charge of a development team at Ascora. He was the lead researcher in the FP7 projects SOA4ALL (http://www.soa4all.eu/), Netchallenge (http://www.netchallenge.org/), SIMPLI-CITY (simply-city.eu) and SAM (socialisingaroundmedia.com), in addition to some national projects in Germany. Currently, Tim is the project coordinator of the H2020 CREMA project (http://www.crema-project.eu/) and he is Ascora’s main representative in the domain of Industry 4.0. He has also been co-leading the FP7 project ADVENTURE (http://www.fp7-adventure.eu/).

Dr. Tamas Kiss

Dr. Tamas Kiss is a Reader at the Department of Computer Science and a Principal Researcher at the Centre for Parallel Computing, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Westminster. He holds a PhD in Distributed Computing and his research interests include distributed and parallel computing, cloud, cluster and grid computing. He has been involved in several European research projects and FP7 support action projects. Currently he is Project Coordinator of the FP7 CloudSME project that aims to develop a cloud-based simulation platform for manufacturing and engineering SMEs. He (co-)authored more than 80 scientific papers in journals, conference proceedings and book chapters.

Dr. Armin Lechler

Dr. Armin Lechler studied Technical Cybernetics (Dipl.-Ing.) with emphasis on Production Engineering at Universität Stuttgart (2000 – 2006). Afterwards, he worked until 2009 as a research assistant at the Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Units (ISW) at Universität Stuttgart in the research area “Information and Communication Technology”. From 2009 to 2011 he served as the Head of the Control Engineering Department at ISW. He also served as the Managing Director of FISW Steuerungstechnik GmbH in parallel since 2009. In 2011, he was appointed the Managing Chief Engineer at ISW. Dr. Lechler became the Deputy Head of the business unit for Electronics and Microsystems at Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) in 2013 in addition.

Prof. Bohu Li

Professor Bohu Li is an Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Honorarium President of the School of Automation Science and Electron Engineering, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA). Professor Li serves as the co-editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Modeling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing (IJMSSC). He has (co-)authored 250 papers, 11 books and 4 translated books in the fields of modelling and simulation, and contemporary integrated manufacturing systems. Professor Li has got 1 first class scientific award and 3 second class scientific awards from China’s State Government, and 14 scientific awards from the Chinese Ministries. Professor Li is the leader of the cloud manufacturing project in China.

Prof. Göran Roos

Göran is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) as well as of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA). He is one of the founders of modern intellectual capital science and is a recognized world expert in this field. He is also the founder or co-founder of several companies and is presently the Managing Director for Innovation Performance Pty Ltd. Göran has authored or co-authored over one hundred books, book chapters, papers and articles many of which have been recognized with awards. He is also a member of the editorial boards of a number of international journals. He was named one of the 13 most influential thinkers for the 21st Century by the Spanish business journal “Direccion y Progreso”.

Prof. Lihui Wang

Professor Lihui Wang is the Chair of Sustainable Manufacturing at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief and an Editor of a number of international journals. He has published 7 books, 4 conference proceedings and 15 journal special issues, and authored or co-authored in excess of 320 scientific articles in archival journals, books, and peer-reviewed conference proceedings. He is also a Board Director of NAMRI/SME, a Fellow of CIRP, a Fellow of SME, a Fellow of ASME, a Presidium Member of Swedish Production Academy, and a registered Professional Engineer in Canada.

Prof. Xun Xu

Professor Xu is an authority in STEP-Compliant NC (STEP-NC) machining solutions. He is also one of the leading researchers in a new service-oriented manufacturing paradigm called cloud-based manufacturing. His paper titled “From cloud computing to Cloud manufacturing” published in January 2012 has remained to be the most cited and downloaded article since 2013. Cyber-physical production system, Internet of Industrial Things and additive manufacturing are among some of the recent research undertakings of Professor Xu’s. Professor Xu serves as an Associate Editor and a member of Editorial Board of a number of international journals and has published some 260 research papers. He is the Fellow of American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Fellow of Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ).
